sounds like a local thing. at our congregation you can order as many as you want... too. :P
as far as i knew, its use at FS groups was always just an optional thing the conductor could choose to do or not.
this might have been posted before.
couldn't find it in a search.
haven't been to a hall in years.. i was told that only one day text per family can be ordered at the counter.

are the wbt$ spies watching us?
i like to think we are guiding them although they hate us so much they are even suggesting we should be killed!
they have already called us 'mentally diseased'.. on the forums and elsewhere we've seen this quote many times =.
yes of course we're being watched. as Trailerfitter said, they have to keep an eye on the competition, or in this case, more the critique, the opposition, the dissent.
how else would they know what issues to adress? i've noticed evidence of this even in the last few weeks of study articles - i dont have them here to quote directly, but for instance the segment about being more interested in revealing god's unfolding purpose than shielding themselves from critique??? really?? that in ITSELF is an attempt to deflect critique by making it seem irrelevant! and sadly, for some it will work..
also the current/upcoming assembly demo dealing with the dissatisfaction about the generation change. recent articles touching on apostacy, disfellowshipped family members, and so on, meety topics on our side. how about their request for cease and desist to Anony Mous' email campaign? in short, they just cannot operate the organization without keeping a close eye on what is happening on the other side of the fence.
can someone explain why jws shun disfellowshipped ones when they are at their meetings (i.e.
making moves to come back)?.
i can understand why you may not want to 'socialize' with ones who do not share your beliefs.. but surely shunning such ones at the 'meetings'; assuming they are not there to cause trouble, is unloving; should they not be welcomed like the prodigal son.. true christians are known by the 'love' they show.
he was also told not to associate with another disfellowshipped lad who also attended
telling the disfellowshipped not to associate with the disfellowshipped! the next level of shunning!
hahaha i mean, there must be more than two, out of the hundreds of members here, no?
i also just wanted to rejuvenate the thread since there are many new members since a year ago.
as an ex-jw do you tell people about your jw past?
how much detail do you go into when you tell non-jw's about the organization.
i usually only ever say anything if somebody asks about my religious affiliation or mentions jw's.
only in my imagination. sometimes i think i might, but then i hesitate because to them it might seem utterly bizarre, and i fear it might somehow come back to bite me since i'm still fading. so it remains limited to the forum.
no one else???
this explanation is extracted from the reasoning book, page 205. .
jesus foretold for our day this work: this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
he also instructed his followers: go .
If JW's only knew how much of an embarassment their "work" was...
i'm pretty sure most of them DO know that. but they continue doing it out of obligation, expectation, and status. additionally, it can give a sense of pride and accomplishment participating in a cause you [mostly] believe in DESPITE feeling slightly embarassed.
in 1925, judge rutherford penned an article of extreme controversy titled the birth of the nation.. the editorial committee (russell had created) would not approve it.. .
ruthford moved swiftly to remove them!
he then hid his massacre cleverly:.
It is a kind of self-fashioned paradox that the Watchtower claims to be heralding an important and urgent message and yet demonstrates an absolute horror of making that message public effectively by using the best technology available.
i was just commenting about that on a different thread, but that paradox was actually somewhat of a "stumbling block" for me while still in.
